How safe is your sunscreen?
Another beautiful, hot day here and no rain in sight. Thank goodness for the pool and the slip-n-slide. I've learned to lather on the sunscreen multiple times during the day, despite the protests of wiggling children, because even though the bottle says "long lasting" or "waterproof," - they really aren't.
My research has shown that even though the SPF might be a 1000, (ok, I'm kidding- they just keep getting higher and higher), let's say SPF 50, there's really a limit to what the SPF (sun protection factor) can do.
Also, ingredients really matter and some of the stuff out there is pretty icky. The daily green has a great article about natural sunscreens. I'll be writing next week about ingredients to watch for and also sunburn remedies.
Remember, more is better than less!
