Exciting News

Well it's with great pleasure that I apologize for my absence in writing lately. Why on earth would someone do that? Well the guilty pleasure is that my husband was home from work for several weeks, using vacation time to catch up on things that he cannot normally find time to do around the house. Loved it!
Loved spending time with him and going out to lunch and painting and fixing all the little things that can go wrong in a big house during the last 10 years. But then my husband got on a plane and went to Connecticut for the better part of a week, which I did not love so much.

The relaxation of the past two weeks turned into a very hectic and stressful week of trying to play both Mom and Dad, catch up on other things around the house and my writing work got shelved again. But this week it is back to the grind and I love that too.

But the OTHER thing that is so awesome and that has added to my lack of presence here in bloggers' world is that I was promoted to a FEATURE WRITER on Suite101. Yep! I am the official Health and Wellness Feature Writer, specializing in ADD and ADHD. I have a Blog there too. It's taken me awhile to apply for an FW position, the commitment is a bit more than a Contributing Writer and I didn't have time previously to take the plunge. But now that I do I am enjoying the work so much. Check out my articles over there and also my recent Examiner columns. Lots of exciting things going on!

A long walk for lunch

Today- my munchkins asked if we could go out for lunch- the summer doldrums are here and I understand wanting to get out of the house and do something different (even though we've been at Space Camp and karate classes this week- my kids HAVE to always be busy...I understand that too...Type A personality, OCD, ADD, whatever... we just are happier when we have a project or something going on)
And...the ADD kicks in...back to lunch. I agreed, with two caveats:
One, that we walk to wherever we go. That immediately limited some of the choices, although we're within a few miles of a dozen restaurants, the closest one got picked (Olive Garden).
Two, that they only order water to drink. This helps me stay on our weekly budget -and eliminates the battle of "can't I PLEASE get pop?" when we get there. You know how much I love the HFCS...

So, we're headed off to Olive Garden, home of the sort of Italian food, for some salad and soup and breadsticks..and water. Maybe not THE healthiest lunch in the world, but could certainly be worse.
And we'll get a good workout both ways.

It's so hot today, I'm sure there will be swimming later too. Pictured are my son and "his" two girls, his buddies from down the street, out cruising in the convertible last night.

Hope you're all having an awesome week!

Best,
Beth

While we're at it, let's talk yoga

Overwhelmed. That's how I feel a lot lately, with all that's going on. And as I understand it, that's how ADD and ADHD feel. I explored the positive benefits of Yoga and mediation for ADD and ADHD on suite101 yesterday and I also wrote about Yoga for Families on examiner.
I'm planning on taking both my Bradens to a yoga class tomorrow, I'll let you know how we felt about it later in the week.
